Brand USA board of directors elects Tom Klein chairman

The board of directors of Brand USA, the destination-marketing organization for the United States, has elected Tom Klein, president and CEO of Sabre Corporation, chair of the board. Klein succeeds Arne Sorenson, president and CEO of Marriott International, Inc., who originally joined the Brand USA board on Oct. 1, 2012, and has served as board chair since Jan. 22, 2015.

Emirates to launch new daily service to Fort Lauderdale

Emirates has just announced it will launch a daily service between Dubai and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on December 15, 2016, serving the South Florida area, including Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and West Palm Beach. This will be Emirates’ 11th passenger route in the United States.

Hotels.com, marketing in the skies with Glory

Cloud marketing is obviously not the same as marketing in the clouds, but one helps the other, and some brands know how and where to get into action. Hotels.com and its biggest fan Captain Obvious took to the skies on October 1 at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. The 45 annual event featured hundreds of hot air balloons, including the first Hotels.com hot air balloon.

Envoy Returns to the Big Apple

Miami welcomes Scandinavian Airlines

On September 28, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Scandinavia’s leading airline, launched first-ever service at Miami International Airport (MIA) with the first of four weekly flights from Oslo, Norway. On September 29, SAS began three weekly flights from MIA to Copenhagen, Denmark, marking the airline's first flights to the southeastern U.S. and only its fifth U.S. route overall. The inaugural flight also brought with it nine tons of Norwegian salmon in the belly cargo.
