85 million tourists visited Florida during first 9 months of 2016

Governor Rick Scott announced that Florida set another record in tourism by welcoming the highest amount of visitors of any nine months in the state’s history with 85 million visitors. This record amount represents a 5.5 percent increase over the year. In the third quarter of 2016 (July - September), 26.9 million visitors came to the state, an increase of 5.1 percent over the year. This marks Florida’s largest third quarter for visitation ever.



American and TSA launch two automated screening lanes at Chicago O’Hare

As the holiday travel period quickly approaches, American Airlines , the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Chicago Department of Aviation have collaborated to launch two automated security screening lanes in Terminal 3 at Chicago O’Hare. These lanes, funded by American, incorporate technology and screening station modifications that enhance security effectiveness while decreasing the time travelers spend in security screening.

Norwegian Cruise Line announced that Camille Olivere is joining the brand as Senior Vice President, Sales effective November 30, 2016. Formerly Senior Vice President of Partner Brands at World Travel Holdings, Olivere returns to Norwegian to cultivate and further enhance travel partner engagement across sales channels under the Norwegian’s Partners First philosophy and lead the continued development of sales in North America.



Houston Cinema Arts Festival kicks off November 10

The Houston Cinema Arts Society has announced the full slate of films, guest artists, panels, live performances and additional highlights coming to the 8th Annual Houston Cinema Arts Festival (HCAF) taking place November 10 – 17. HCAF is devoted to films by and about artists in the visual, performing and literary arts. This vibrant multimedia arts event breaks out of the confines of the movie theater through live music, film performances and outdoor projections.



St. Augustine Recognized with Condé Nast Traveler's 2016 Reader's Choice Award

Condé Nast Traveler has announced the results of its 29th annual Readers' Choice Awards with St. Augustine, Florida, recognized among the Best Small Cities in the World. St. Augustine, the nation's oldest city, is located in the northeast area of Florida, and placed 9 out of 15 in the category of Best Small Cities in the United States. If you visit the Sunshine State, Florida's Historic Coast is a must.



Visit Tampa Bay celebrates another record year

Visit Tampa Bay celebrated another record year for tourism in Hillsborough County and launched “Talk Up Tampa Bay,” a program that rewards local residents who help bring meetings and conventions to the destination. The annual luncheon was held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina. The 600-person gathering showcased the highlights of the year and tourism’s positive impact on Tampa Bay.
