Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau launches Hello Sunny TV

In a world first for destination marketing, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau has launched the 24/7 digital TV network – “Hello Sunny TV” – to highlight its growing appeal to affluent and millennial travelers. The major initiative to deliver exciting new content and exposure for Greater Fort Lauderdale was launched on Saturday, December 3.

Art Basel’s show in Miami Beach closed amidst high praise from participating galleries reporting healthy sales across all levels of the market. The show, whose Lead Partner is UBS, featured 269 world-class galleries from 29 countries, who presented exceptional works, ranging from modern masterpieces to contemporary paintings, films, sculptures and installations.



Alice Norsworthy and Thomas O’Toole appointed to Brand USA board of directors

Alice Norsworthy, chief marketing officer, Universal Orlando Resort and executive vice president, international brand management, Universal Parks & Resorts, will be representing the attractions or recreations sector. Thomas O’Toole, senior fellow and clinical professor of marketing at the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University, will be representing the passenger air sector.



85 million tourists visited Florida during first 9 months of 2016

Governor Rick Scott announced that Florida set another record in tourism by welcoming the highest amount of visitors of any nine months in the state’s history with 85 million visitors. This record amount represents a 5.5 percent increase over the year. In the third quarter of 2016 (July - September), 26.9 million visitors came to the state, an increase of 5.1 percent over the year. This marks Florida’s largest third quarter for visitation ever.



American and TSA launch two automated screening lanes at Chicago O’Hare

As the holiday travel period quickly approaches, American Airlines , the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Chicago Department of Aviation have collaborated to launch two automated security screening lanes in Terminal 3 at Chicago O’Hare. These lanes, funded by American, incorporate technology and screening station modifications that enhance security effectiveness while decreasing the time travelers spend in security screening.



Camille Olivere joins Norwegian Cruise Lines as Senior Vice President, Sales

Norwegian Cruise Line announced that Camille Olivere is joining the brand as Senior Vice President, Sales effective November 30, 2016. Formerly Senior Vice President of Partner Brands at World Travel Holdings, Olivere returns to Norwegian to cultivate and further enhance travel partner engagement across sales channels under the Norwegian’s Partners First philosophy and lead the continued development of sales in North America.
