Miami International Airport welcomes three returning airlines

Air France, Avianca and Viva Air are the latest to make comebacks. The new airline restarts bring MIA’s total number of passenger carriers to 22, complemented by 31 all-cargo airlines currently in operation. Before the pandemic, MIA was home to 100 passenger and cargo airlines – the most of any U.S. airport.

U.S. Travel announced new dates for IPW 2021 in Las Vegas

The U.S. Travel Association announced that IPW, its annual international inbound travel trade show, will be a live, in-person event held in Las Vegas from September 18-22, 2021. The Sept. dates are revised from previously released 2021 event dates.

Latest analysis: Coronavirus impact on travel 9x worse than 9/11

The travel industry has lost a full third of all the jobs lost in the U.S. and is experiencing a total impact from coronavirus that is nine times greater than the 9/11 attacks, according to new data released by the U.S. Travel Association and the analytics firm Tourism Economics. By the end of April, declines in travel will cause eight million jobs to be lost out of approximately 24 million for the entire U.S. economy, according to the report.

American Airlines announces additional schedule changes in response to customer demand related to COVID-19

American Airlines Group Inc. yesterday announced additional adjustments to its schedule in response to decreased travel demand due to COVID-19. The company plans to reduce international capacity for the summer season by 34% versus the previous selling schedule, including a 50% reduction in April trans-Atlantic capacity, reduce service to South America, including a suspension of flights to Argentina.

American Airlines launches customer flights aboard newest fleet type

American Airlines introduced customers to its new Airbus A321neo today, welcoming its newest aircraft into the youngest fleet among U.S. network airlines. The first flight was American Flight 682 from Phoenix (PHX) to Orlando, Florida (MCO). Other routes will be added this year as additional A321neos join the fleet.
