The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (GFLCVB) announced last week the appointment of Gabriel E. Martinez to the Tourism Sales Team as the new Senior Manager of International Tourism Sales. In his new role, he will be overseeing the development of the international market.
“We are proud to have Gabriel join our sales team, and we know his leadership and experience will help promote Greater Fort Lauderdale’s unique selling points,” said Stacy Ritter, president and CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Most recently, Martinez served as Senior Manager of International Sales and Marketing at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment for six years. In this role, he represented 12 theme parks across the United States and managed over 50 receptive accounts distributing travel worldwide, and with revenues approaching $20 million annually. In 2013, he had the opportunity to be the “eyes, ears and voice” of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment at the 8th U.S.-China Tourism Leadership Summit, held in Chicago, IL.
His previous experience also includes Disney Destinations (formerly Disney Parks & Resorts), where he started in the call center and climbed through the ranks to become International Sales Coordinator, then Sales Manager for Latin Emerging Markets and, finally, Sales Manager for Mexico. While at Disney Destinations, Gabriel represented Disney World in Florida, Disneyland in California, Disney Cruise Line, and Disneyland Paris.
Martinez has served on the Advisory Board to the International Inbound Travel Association in several capacities, most recently as the chair of the organization’s marketing committee; as well as co-chairing the Travel Industry Sales Committee for Visit Orlando, Orlando’s analog to GFLCVB.
He received his bachelor’s degree in entertainment business from Full Sail University and a master’s degree in business administration from Rollins College.
